Welcome back to Jesus Christ CEO TV where we are filming live on the exhibit floor of the National Religious Broadcasters convention and exhibit and I am here with Tim Eaton, a business owner who I believe the Lord fits our mandate of Jesus Christ CEOs TV telling the world what Jesus Christ is doing a business. So thank you, Tim, for sitting down and talking with me.

Yeah. So tell our audience a little bit about you the history and then we'll get into how that kind of launched you into business with your wife and all that good stuff.

Sure if Well, I grew up in New England, primarily Maine, born and raised there, and grew up in a Christian family and decided when I was 10, I want to be a pilot waggle took me for a plane ride. That's what I want to do. So I decided then, but I wanted to do the commercial airline track, right. But later on in years, God got a hold of me and said, No, I want you to go off to the mission field. So I several years of training and getting ready to go I ended up going to Peru to fly for missionary group. And the jungle, you saw I was there in the 1980s flying for a group transporting missionaries and supplies and relief groups around the jungle. I loved it thought it was I was the luckiest guy in the world and able to serve Jesus and, and fly around the jungle. It was great. I loved it. So I really thought it was going to be there until the the the end at the age of 62 where most mission pilots have to ground themselves, right. But as I was I was there I realized that God was doing something and I God really showed me three main things. In my time in Peru. I saw extreme poverty for the first time. And I started to learn about medicinal plants. We'll talk about that in a minute. Yep. And I met my wife.

And so the most important thing here. So, matter of fact, we celebrated our 32nd anniversary, yesterday, very blessed.

And so we decided to leave for robe, go to the states and start a business and give at least 50% of the profits to ministries in Peru that we were passionate about wild. And.

That's a business model as a business mission, right? And how most business owners listening to this right now with that, you know, how can I start a company with planning on giving 50% of the profit away? What was your thought process and from a business side?
Tim Eaton 4:47
Well, you know, talking about the business side of things, my dad was an incredible businessman. And my brothers almost worshipped his ability to make money but I really never really thought much about it. I just wanted to fly airplanes. And so, but when what happened was God really gave us a purpose before anything. And so the purpose was to start a business run a business, to create prophets to reach the unreached to make disciples,

And as I was living in Peru, I saw, Wow, the Peruvians, especially the Peruvian pastors in the jungle, are the best equipped to reach their own people.

Yeah.

I speak I speak fluent Spanish. I understand the culture pretty well. My wife is Peruvian speak Spanish, but she's from Lima, the city, not the jungle, right. And so we wanted to empower the Peruvian nationals to reach their own people. And so what we believe God led us to do was to start a business. So we could use the profits to do that. So the purpose was already decided.

Was the most important thing.

Yeah. But then we thought, okay, what are we going to do? So we thought about something in aviation with my background, something in aviation in South Florida. We thought about, even for one day, we thought about a Peruvian restaurant. But that still happened to me that lasted one day period. Peruvian food is great. And so we eventually landed on medicinal plants. And it was partially because all mostly because that's what the Holy Spirit led us to do.

Yeah.

But I had learned some things about medicinal plants, from the tribal groups that I was spending a lot of time with, on my travels in Peru spent a lot of a lot of nights overnighting in tribal villages, and sitting around the campfire, and talking.

And learning.

And matter of fact, I was on a on a survival trip at one point where we learn how to survive in case we go down to the jungle. And one of the tribal guys was there to show us what to eat and what not to eat. Said if you cut this vine, and the water will flow out of it. And it'll it'll be good drinking water instead of trying to drink something that's laying around on the jungle floor. So he said, By the way, we we take this vine, and we take the bark off and we make a tea, and we use it to treat all these different health issues.

So that was one of my experiences of learning from them. So we just we we embarked on a business to to produce natural medicine. Moving on along the years now, we we've been in business for 31 years. And we've.

So the products must work.
Tim Eaton 8:00
The products work. We have we mostly sell to health care professionals, medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, DOs, chiropractors, and, and we have an office in Ireland's we support our customers there in the European Union. But we have about 60 products. Many of them are very therapeutic. They're used to treat very complex chronic health issues. But we also have a range of wellness products that many of your viewers would be familiar with like vitamin C, vitamin D, K, zinc, Resveratrol.

A lot of the really impressive therapeutic extracts that we make plant materials, though those come from mostly Peru, right. And we're involved in the harvesting we're involved in a to z on that. But a lot of these other minerals and things that come from other countries. Zinc, whether it's a vitamin C or vitamin D, some products come from Egypt, from Brazil, from Hungary from Mexico, from Indonesia. But once again most of the really impressive products that the doctors are using come from the Peruvian Amazon and some of the high jungle some of the Andes mountains.

So let's take you back 30 years. Sure, and your original purpose helping these who were needed to have resources to make disciples and, and bring people into the kingdom. Show us what tell us what those first few years look like, with you the company, being able to resource them the first few years in business, when you were able to start giving resources to the purpose.

Yeah, you know, it took a little while to get the business going. But a year and a half before we started, actually moving product and selling and, and in 1995, the, in our second year, we the business started really booming. We had 30 employees and our second year, and we were giving to several ministries in the in the jungle during that time. And we were just like, wow, this is awesome. You know, I think, you know, we weren't thinking big enough. We were they love you know, God this is we thought wow, we'll we'll be able to send 20,000 a year down to down to down to Peru something back then with hyperinflation the dollar would go a long way.

Yeah.

You could support a national pastor family for $35 a month. But not anymore. So it was a, it was fantastic, just to see it come to fruition. And, but also seeing things that God was doing, you know, my backgrounds in aviation, not in nutraceuticals.

And so, I just saw God, just sending the right people to us and God, opening doors of opportunity. And, and there was a doctor that was very impressed with what what our first product we sold, which was an herb called cat's claw, which some of your viewers may not be aware of. And he got complete resolution of the of a chronic health issue he was dealing with. He wrote an article about it. That was submitted to a journal and published.

Uh huh.

And that, that exploded the sales. That's what started the sales. And I didn't even know that was happening. Yeah, I didn't even know he that this doctor was doing this. Didn't know the article was coming out.

Right. Right.

So how so it was all God doing it?

Uh huh.
Tim Eaton 12:55
And I'll be the first to say that, you know, God's you know, I don't have an MBA. I, my my training is all in aviation and aircraft maintenance yet. And so I don't have I didn't have the business experience.

So it was just clear to everyone. Well, you know, Tim can't do this. My family especially Yes, I you know, God, God has got to be doing something here.

So just exciting to have just to see able to give so much. You know, money. You know, I was in Peru as a missionary on an $800 a month salary.
Leray Heyne 13:37
Yeah.
Tim Eaton 13:38
And I thought that was wow, this is awesome.

Yeah, yeah.

No, I was not. I was able to save a little bit of money every night.

Yeah. Yeah.

So now let's fast forward 30 years later. Is the company still living according to the purpose?
Tim Eaton 13:55
Yes, we are young we give a minimum of 50% sometimes it's 60-70-80-90 by all depends on the on the year and then in cash flow and liquidity and you know, we you know, we have no debt, and we never saw 's ever went into debt. We did look 25 years ago, we had a lot of credit card debt, keeping things going for a while. But God took their care that really quickly but yeah, we're able to, to make good on that promise to God.

And it's great when we have as I mentioned earlier, people around us good friends, that you know, check in with us. How's it going? How's that giving going? Are you are you are you same question you asked me that? Are you still doing what you're promised God you would do?

Yeah.

And so we just seeing God I just come through so many times, and bless us, and bless our efforts and help us and guide us. There have been so many, you know, we've had opportunities to last year even, we had an opportunity with a very well known celebrity that liked our products that wanted to recommend them to the more than 100 million followers, but were weren't in alignment with this person. So we said, No, we're going to have to pass.

Right.

And so my point is that we need to stay true to what God wants us to do. Yes. And work with those that we're in alignment with. And and so we were, we're partnering with other believers in business and, and networking with them. And we just very careful to choose who we are who we work together with.

Yeah, it's not your business. It's the Lord's.

It's not it's not my business.

We're just managing it for him.

Yep. Right. Amen. Amen. So 30 years of doing this, we're talking to business owners, we're talking to future business owners there, I'm telling you, they're loving what they're hearing. But they're, if you've been around this other business owners like me, they're already thinking, How do I do that? How do I do that? How do I do that? Right? They've already tried to shift to, you know, execution. What would be out of all of these years, you know, what would be? What's maybe the best thing the Lord has taught you in this journey with him in this says, and then what would be your recommendation for somebody who's listening that says, You know what, I want to follow in Tim's path. I love what he's done.

Great, great question. I think the biggest thing is to get to a point where you realize it's not your company. Not just say that, not just think it, but really live that. And I've talked to a lot of business owners with they they'll come flat out and say, I just can't do that. It's mine. And I've heard that more times than not.

Yeah.
Tim Eaton 16:49
And and I said.

Well, okay, they're not willing to pay the price.
Tim Eaton 16:55
No, no. And, and, and it's been on the other hand, there's been a few people say, I want to do the same thing. And there's a as a young man in Peru, who he's actually named after me. Uh huh. He lives in the jungle town near I used to live he's a businessman does construction in his so his name is Timo tail, named after me. And, and he started a business and he gives as much as he can give away with that in the Peruvian tax system.

And, and he says, Tim, I'm doing this. Uncle Tim, I'm doing this. Because you? Yeah. So sometimes we can just be an example to someone, I never even talked to him about it.

You know, but he and I go to Peru two or three times a year we hang out, this is how it's going. And so you know, people watch us. And watch how we do business, how we treat our employees, how we treat our customers, our vendors, everyone how we do business, we want to we want to treat others as, as we would want to be treated. And, you know, many of you know, Larry briquettes book, you know, business by the book. Yep. I think over 1000 verses that, that instruct us on how to how to do business. So it's there.

Yeah.

It's all there. And I think it's just surrendering to God say, God, this is your company. Tell me show me what you want me to do be humble.

Yeah.
Tim Eaton 18:48
Our team at the office, I would say they all do their jobs better than I could do that. Whether it's the person in sales or marketing yet, or finance or tech, or production. God has blessed us with an incredible team.

And so my wife and I are there. But we don't micromanage. We let them do their jobs. We help them whenever they need help. We're there too. My wife is really good at maintaining the culture at the office.

And that's a really, you know, we only have 35 employees that are office in Florida, we contract out a lot of the manufacturing, but it's really really important to us. Yeah, to maintain that. That that healthy Christian atmosphere.

And so we have people many people have come to Christ that work for us. Some are going off to full time Christian work.

Yeah.

We hired 11 Guys, I thought it was seven but someone just reminded me was 11 guys through that came out of a Christian drug and rehabilitation program.

So we that's a safe environment. Yeah. meant for them to come out of for local ministry. And then from there, after a year or two or three, they can move on something else. Most of them work in the warehouse packing boxes.

And they love it.

Yeah. So wow, you know, I'm I'm glad our teams connected us together. So I could hear your story this night, because what you're doing is exactly what we want to encourage business owners to do. Right you are, you're living you know, with purpose. God is blessing, that purpose that he's given you, not only on the purpose side, but also on the business side. And, you know, a lot of people like you said, they want to do it, but there, they just don't think it really could be done. They don't have the bait. And so, so you just heard from Tim, I hope you guys are so encouraged that you can make Jesus preeminent. You've just heard his story of how the Lord is working through his body. It's Tim and his wife and so many other team members. Tim, tell me again, how they get your product here.
